Ephesians 4:32 says: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you”.

This was exemplified by the life of Regina Sue Grimes, who passed away July 1, 2025, at the White River Lodge surrounded by her family. She was born April 1, 1954, the daughter of Chester Dale and Bertha (Ingram) Varvel.

Regina was a founder and co-owner of T&G Construction Co., Inc., where she was Recording Secretary/Treasury for over 42 years. She was a very faithful member of Midtown Church of Christ in Bedford and served as treasurer for many years. She enjoyed reading and playing Scrabble with anyone that would play but mostly with her good friend and neighbor, Tina Marlow. Regina oversaw the finances of multi-million dollars of construction work but felt her greatest achievement in life was raising her children and granddaughters. Even though the task of her job was grueling, she found time, first and foremost, for the church and her family. She was ultimately a kind and generous lady. She firmly believed Philippians 2:3-4, which reminds us: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others.”

She is survived by her husband, Benny; one daughter, Mistie Bishop (Cliff Landreth) of San Antonio, Texas; 2 sons, Josh Grimes and Raymond (Tobie) Grimes, all of Mitchell; 2 granddaughters, Jameelia Grimes and Ashlen Grimes of Mitchell; a sister-in-law, Debbie (Dwight) Padgett; 3 nephews, 2 nieces and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her child, Sarah, in infancy; her parents, Chester Dale and Bertha (Ingram) Varvel; three sisters, Gwendolyn Baker, Marlene Varvel and Michelle Varvel, in infancy.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 7, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Jerry Jackson and Brother David Southern officiating.  Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, and from 1:00 p.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers Josh Grimes, Raymond Grimes, Mistie Bishop, Cliff Landreth, Chris Marlow, and Reid Marlow will honor Regina by carrying and escorting her remains to the final resting place.

Bennie, and family so sorry to hear of your loss. I always liked calling in and joking with Regina about putting up with Bennie. He would then overhear and tell her to put the old alcoholic thru. So funny. She always knew the joke and laughed along with us. She was always ready to help and we had laughs. I could tell she was a good wife and mother. Prayers to you Bennie and your family. Thinking of you! Scott and Diane Hasenour and Euronique Family

Bennie and family, we are so saddened by the passing of Regina. Only time will lessen the pain, and her memory will be greater and sweeter as the years pass. We would like to honor Regina by sharing that Bill worked for T&G several years. The job offered him with this company was a God send and one of the most blessed times in his lifetime. It was greatly appreciated and not forgotten. He was treated with acceptance, respect, generosity, kindness, fairness and so much more. This era of our lives holds a special place in our memories and hearts. The ones that created this opportunity show the true meaning of Godliness and love. Thank you, Regina and Bennie. Our thoughts, prayers and love are with you today and the upcoming ones. Bill & Pat Sharr

I did not have the honor of meeting Regina but had the pleasure of working with her husband Benny and son Ray. As the saying goes, behind every great man is a greater woman. It was evident that the entire family carried themselves with integrity, humility, and compassion for others rooted in their great foundation of faith. I extend my condolences and hope the family can be comforted and have hope as expressed in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14.

We had many fun lunches and times years ago couponing, you were a true friend and I will truly miss you. The last time I saw you a week ago you said with a tear running down your face I’m tired of this place and I want to go home. I knew what you truly meant and now you are in your heavenly home. I will miss you so. Loved you my friend.

She was my sister-in-law and I am going to miss her smile. She was very good person, always treated people with kindness. I will miss her terribly, but she suffered so much and now her pain is over...I truly loved her. RiP I will see you soon.
