MITCHELL – William Brett Porter, 31, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born March 31, 1990, in Bedford, he was the son of William Randall “Butch” and Susan Jeanne (Lynch) Porter.

Brett was a salesman at Hobson Dealership and had been employed at Root’s RV.  He was a 2009 graduate of Paoli High School, a member of the First Baptist Church, and Masonic Lodge No. 228 F.&A.M.

Brett was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, and IU

Surviving:                     mother, Susan Lynch Porter of Mitchell

               father and stepmother, Butch and Sherry Porter of Bedford

                                     brothers, Taylor Porter of Bedford

                                                     Ryan (Abby) Cole of Indianapolis

                                           sister, Jordan (Andy) Webb of Bedford

               paternal grandparents, Leonard and Donna Porter of Mitchell

                                                   Jim and Carolyn Deckard of Bedford

                                                   Ernie and Maxine Hilderbrand of Florida

                                        nieces, Evie Cole, Sophie Cole, Poppy Cole, and Harbor Webb

                                      nephew, River Webb

His maternal grandparents, Fred and Helen Lynch, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be Friday, March 11, 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Reggie Clark and Pastor Dave Milkulsky officiating.  Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Thursday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the church.  A memorial service will be conducted by Masonic Lodge No. 228 F.&A.M. at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial Gifts:  First Baptist Church Youth Program or Hatfield Elementary School.

    I have several happy memories of moments with Brett and my son, but my favorite that I have been reliving this week is the day Brett and I helped my son Kyle choose the engagement ring for his wife Kelli. Brett thoroughly enjoyed the process that day and kept Kyle relaxed and focused. Uniquely Brett, he charmed us all, including the jewelry store manager. We will miss him in Kyle's life. I will especially miss his smile. Our hearts are broken for all. May he rest in eternal peace and your hearts be lightened with the joyful memories everyone will share.
